How to buy tickets to see the Argentina national team at the World Cup 2026

The ticket purchase process for the 2026 World Cup is divided into two main phases, with different levels of information available at the time of purchase. It is important to understand when each one is enabled and what type of tickets will be available.

0

Phase 0 — Visa Presale (exclusive lottery for Visa cardholders)

When: Access available between September 10–19, 2025. Visa is the main sponsor of the 2026 World Cup and therefore has the privilege of offering the first ticket purchase windows.

What it is: You don't buy tickets that day; you request to enter a lottery. Privilege only available to Visa cardholders. Inside FIFAcorporate.visa.com.

Next: FIFA runs the random draw and begins notifying winners by the end of September. Those selected will receive a purchase window starting on October 1.

If you are not selected in this lottery, don't worry — there will be additional phases open to the public.

1

Phase 1 — Early Presale (from September 19, 2025)

After the Visa presale, FIFA will open additional phases (without lottery and/or first-come, first-served), running from October 1, 2025 until December 5, 2025. Detailed information for each phase (payment methods, available products) will be published progressively by FIFA. At this stage, the following will still be unknown: which teams qualify and the official draw results.

Tickets are sold following the tournament structure, for example:

  • Match 1A vs 2B – Venue: Miami
  • Match 3C vs 1D – Venue: New York

Buyers choose matches based on group and venue, without yet knowing which teams will play on that day.

This phase is ideal for those who:

  • Want to secure attendance in a specific city or stadium.
  • Live in or travel to a host city and want to attend matches there.
  • Are comfortable with the uncertainty of the fixture.

In this phase, you cannot choose by team (like Argentina), since the full schedule has not yet been set.

2

Phase 2 — Post-Draw Sale (from December 6, 2025)

After the official draw, everything will be defined:

  • Which teams are in each group.
  • Matchups, dates, times, and host cities.
  • Possible paths for each team in the group stage and beyond.

In this phase, tickets are available with confirmed teams, including:

  • Individual match tickets
  • Team-specific packages (Follow My Team)
  • Hospitality packages by venue or team

With most teams already qualified, this sale allows you to choose precisely:

  • Which match you want to attend
  • In which city
  • Which team

Only a few teams still in the 2026 playoffs (additional slots) will be excluded, but the rest of the fixture will already be fully set.

How many tickets can one person buy for the 2026 World Cup?

According to FIFA's official regulations, each person can purchase up to four tickets per match and for a maximum of 10 different matches. This means that, in total, the same person can buy 40 tickets throughout the competition. The rule aims to balance access to tickets and ensure that as many fans as possible can enjoy the tournament.

How to plan your trip to the 2026 World Cup

Planning your World Cup trip in advance is key to fully enjoying the experience and avoiding setbacks. From migration requirements to estimated budgets, this section offers a practical guide to help you follow the Argentina national team across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Migration and health requirements for the 2026 World Cup

To attend the 2026 World Cup, it is essential to have all travel documentation in order, especially if you plan to attend matches in the United States and Canada, where entry requirements are stricter than in Mexico.

Required travel documents:
  • Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity upon entry.
  • Tourist visa for the United States (B1/B2), if required based on your nationality. If you have a European passport, in many cases this visa is not necessary.
  • Health documentation or vaccination certificates, if requested by authorities near the event date.

The U.S. visa: the most important step for the 2026 World Cup

If you need a visa to enter the U.S., we recommend starting the application process well before ticket sales begin. Waiting times for consulate appointments can be long— sometimes 3 to 8 months—and without an approved visa, you will not be able to enter the country, even if you already have tickets.

Benefits of applying early:
  • Guarantee your legal entry into U.S. territory.
  • Have flexibility to choose matches and venues without restrictions.
  • Avoid financial risks from non-refundable tickets.

💡 Tip: If your visa has expired but is still within the automatic renewal period, you may be eligible to renew without an interview, which speeds up the process. Check the specific requirements with your local U.S. embassy or consulate.
